Like many of you, I was heartsick when I heard that Congress had passed their version of the healthcare bill over the weekend of November 7th. My initial gut reaction was to pack my bags and move out of the country. After all, if our legislators in Washington are just going to keep ignoring us and plow us headlong into full-blown socialism, the United States will no longer be any different than most other countries. How bad could it be to live someplace else then?
Upon giving the matter some further thought, I realized that this line of reasoning is completely contrary to what I have been taught to believe all my life. This is America! We are “different” from all other nations for good reason! It is the people who seek to destroy our form of government, our God-given liberties, our economy, and our very way of life who need to leave – not me or my loved ones. I choose to stay right where I am and fight to re-found what so many before me gave their all to create and pass down to us all. Thankfully, there are millions in this great country who agree with me.
The people who want Barack Obama’s brand of government-controlled health care are generally of two mindsets: Those who are seeking to render the masses totally dependent upon the government, and those who are already in that state of existence (or very close to it now). Being a firm believer in limited government and personal freedoms myself, I find it difficult to understand either of the former categories. Just as there were other options besides Hawaii’s teachers, state and county employees being forced to take furlough days to balance the state budget, there are options within our existing healthcare system that would be more effective and, at the same time, avoid infringing upon the individual rights of all American citizens. Health Savings Accounts were just one alternative that our so-called lawmakers didn’t even blink an eye at before rejecting it. Tort reform is another.
Though we were smacked squarely in the face with the passage of Speaker Pelosi’s prized “history making” legislation, she and her cohorts in Washington need to keep two things in mind. The first is that this bill just barely passed by 5 votes. The second is that We, the People know that all is not lost. Not by a long shot. The Senate has yet to even bring their version of a healthcare bill to the floor, and it is losing ground fast among members of both parties. TEA Party organizations across the country are gearing up as never before, putting the pressure on our elected officials even harder. They are finally beginning to figure out that we are not a passing fancy – and we are certainly not going away! We will camp out on the steps of the Capitol Building, if need be. Worse yet for them, they know that we will not forget how they voted on this when election time rolls around next year.
In the days, weeks and months ahead, it is more important than ever that we seek God’s guidance, and ask for wisdom in combating the onslaught of socialism in our midst. We live in the richest nation on the planet. Indeed quality, affordable healthcare should be available to every American citizen, both young and old. It is up to each of us to push for the kinds of reforms that will make that possible without the government’s “help”. Those who still yearn for the “public option” need to exercise the right to pack their bags and move to Europe. Once they get there, though, I think they’ll be in for a nasty surprise – and a very long wait at the doctor’s office.

The recent poll shows 64% do not want the health-care bill.A physician on Becks show said that 46% of current physicians would leave the profession. Not unreasonable when you see how quiet the lawyer sharks are about the”new” health-care. “Dr. and Insurance co.for lunch anybody”. American Med. Assoc. has only 17% of the Dr. population as members and they are in the favor of the bill? AARP will sell the medagap insurance at a higher rate so they are in favor. The special interest can’t wait!!
We must send emails to Akaka and Inouye now.! Below is a letter I sent today:
The current Health care legislation introduced by your colleagues in the Senate along with the Houses version should be rejected.
This pending health care legislation is not about making it more affordable and available to more citizens. In fact, the unintended consequences will definitely make health care more expensive and less available. And this is evident with recent studies that were just published regarding mammograms and the preventative testing of cervical cancer. The recommendations are calling in a nut shell “Rationed Health Care.” This in its self goes against the ideals of preventative medicine. And in the long run would be more expense and will endanger the lives of millions of women in this Country. This health care legislation will result in the largest government intrusion into the private lives of every citizen ever attempted by our Nation, which is a direct violation of our Constitution. You and your colleagues are attempting to regulate one of the most essential privileges in our society by making us all dependent upon the government. Anyone reading any of this legislation can see page after page rules upon more rules, mandates, fines, fees and regulations too numerous to list.
Think about what you and your colleagues have done with our money over the years. Post office: Broke. Social Security: Broke. Medicare and Medicaid: Broke and broke. Fannie Mae: Broke. Freddie Mac: Broke. Cash for Clunkers: Failed. TARP I: Failed. TARP II: Failed. Stimulus I: Failed. H1N1 vaccine: Have you got yours? These programs are bleeding red ink and are full of mismanagement.
Now you and your colleagues in the Senate and the House want to create and control the health care system using about $1 trillion dollar? Money we don’t have. For a mere 15% of the population, most of which wish not to purchase health care. This fiasco is broke before it starts. The country cannot afford it. Health care is a privilege not an entitlement.
A vote for any of these bills would be a vote directly opposite to the ideals and principles of the founding of America and to the freedoms guaranteed by our Constitution.
Fix the programs before creating new ones.
Obama’s healthcare just gave me three more years of covered healthcare. I am a dependant college student. The other day I got bit by a spider. I was reluctant to go to the ER because I did not have health care. Fortunately, I am covered now. So my options were either pay the rest of my life in capitalism(all about making money, not about helping people) health care expenses or slowly let the venom eat away at my leg and turn into gang green then die.
Dear Andrew, I thought I better explain a few things to you before you get the bill in the mail for your spider bit from the other day. Benefits don’t start until two or three years down the road. So your going to have to pay that ER bill. Maybe next time you could save a little money and go to a doctors office. Plus it sounds like you’re a student so you already have healthcare paid for by smokers all over the nation in the form of punishing taxes collected from “We the People”. Mostly against lower income folks I might add. Your going to wake up some day and see that there is nothing to reach for. No dream of an America that was the greatest place on this planet. The one that drew immigrants from all over the world for a chance at Freedom for over 200 years, and what once was the best healthcare system in the world!
No one has died from lack of Insurance in America. Just a lack of knowledge of where to turn for programs already in place. But that will change some day as you or one of your close friends will need that spider bite looked at, and the local hospital ER will not be able to take you due to the mandates and controls on what services the Big Government will allow the ER to perform to keep costs down. They will send you to a clinic where there will be a waiting line for a doctor, if they have one at all. Lets hope it’s not a very poisonous bite because the true reality of the poisonous Obamacare will set in as you wait for healthcare you can’t get because of rationing . But don’t forget you will be taxed for in now, and not get to use it for a few years if at all.
Mr. Kussro
Just a tidbit of info for ya, hospital emergency rooms throughout the country currently have to treat you if you show up with an injury or are ill. No insurance required. They are required by law.
By the way, what are you studing in college? You should know this stuff.
